A Trip Back To The Past In Southern California

When you mention Southern California most people think of Hollywood, LA and Disneyland.  For me Southern California is about my past.  Hubby and I were married and lived in Southern California 27 years ago and we took our 1st trip back after moving to Tennessee 26 years ago.   We lived in Anaheim and San Bernardino but we decided to go and stay at one of the beach communities we have never visited.

We chose the town of San Clemente which is a laid back surfer town, the weather was cool and overcast most of the time we were there (so much for sunny southern California) but we had a relaxing trip anyway.   We walked the beach and went down to the famous Trestles surfer’s beach and watched them surf.  The fisherman’s restaurant on the pier in San Clemente was our favorite place to eat, great food and beautiful views of the sunset.   We went to Anaheim and visited some of our old haunts and were excited to see one of our favorite restaurants Marie Callendars still in business.

We went to the town of San Juan Capistrano and visited the beautiful mission.    We also went on a whale watching boat tour and took a ferry to Balboa Island.

We did not go to Disneyland or Hollywood (of course we have been there before) but there is so much more to see in California than just the typical tourist stuff.

here are a few of the scrapbook pages I made of the trip
